An organization can boom, flourish with its work but the information regarding how the organization was born, who is the person behind this thought, when its creation started and many more things are not known.

This organization was closely related to the founder members Shri B.L. alias Madhu Kaka Barve. Madhu Kaka was a resident of Chiplun at that time. In February, 1974 Shri Nana Barve, Shri Yashwant Barve and Shri Madhu kaka Barve during the course of casual discussion came up with a modest idea that can a trip be planned for Koleshwar Mahadev Darshan with the 7-8 Barve family members. Soon one more proposal was put forward – why we should limit this meet to friends and relatives only. Why can’t we decide a gathering of Barve Mandali in a year? Can we gather all Barve families together for such a trip or event? To fulfill this thought they realized importance of establishing a Registered organization so that many more things could be done for the betterment of Barve Clan.

After that some meetings held in Mumbai & Pune and everybody welcomed the idea of forming an Organization and promised to attend the Annual meet with full enthusiasm.
The first such gathering (Sammelan) was organized on 11, 12 and 13 May 1974. During the gathering everyone felt that they should consider the following things
• Setting up a Constitution
• Barve Kul Vruttant (Family Tree and History)
• Corpus fund
A temporary committee was constituted until the establishment of registered Barve Kul Sneh Sanwardhak Mandal and this way this Organization came into existence.

Again in 1975 Barve Gathering (Sammelan) & Annual General Body meeting was conducted at Kolthare from 10th to 12th May. During this meeting draft constitution of Barve Kul Sneh Samvardhak Mandal was presented. This constitution was discussed at length and then approved by all the members attending the meeting.

In 1976 Mumbai branch was established. At that time work on Barve Kul Vruttant was also in pipeline. The very first edition of Barve Kul Vruttant (Barve Family tree and History related details) was published in 1977. The second edition of this Vruttant was published in 1983.

In 1978 the central office was shifted from Pune to Mumbai. The President of Mandal at that time was Late Shri D. S. Barve. He tried to run the organization in a professional manner. It was during this period he started Student support fund (Vidhyarthi Sahayata Nidhi). Apart from this Mandal Committee members worked on registering more and more Barve family members as part of the organization. All other activities like the annual Gathering, matrimonial service for Barve Mandali were continued simultaneously.

The Work of Mandal slowed down during 1989 to 1995.

In 1995 under the supervision of then President Shri NandKumar Barve heading a newly formed committee gave new life to Mandal. They invoked many new things namely trimonthly Kulvarta, Sending Birthday Greetings, Setting up new branches, personal meets, Gruha Laxmi award, Annapurna award, Model Worker Award, Barve entrepreneurs in business, kul vrittant third edition publication. The new committee worked tirelessly to organize annual gatherings (sammelan) at different places every year to establish bond between all members of the Barve clan, publishing Barve entrepreneurs list and many more such activities.

In last few years, financial assistance was given to many students and entrepreneurs. It is very inspiring to mention that the families have now stated to repaying the loan amount given to them. This has inspired the organization in working even harder for welfare of Barve families.

With the President Shri M. S. Barve, 18 members are part of the Central committee. There are representatives of all branches. A quarterly meeting is organized at various locations where the members from Central committee and the representatives from various branched meet. In these meetings planning and discussions happen on what more activities can be done for welfare for Barve families. During such meetings focused discussion also happens on providing help for education and business.
