Barve Mandal was established with the primary objective of increasing interaction between the Barve families, increasing togetherness to come together as a community. Immediately from the formation of Barve mandal many programs are being carried out by the mandal to increase the friendly relationship amongst the Barve family members. Many amongst the Barve family members have voluntarily started participating in various activities of the mandal.
1. Barve Kulvruttant : In the year 1977 and 2007, Kulvruttant of Chittpawan Brahmin Surname ‘Barve’ was published. Shri. Shrikrishna Govind Barve was the editor of the 1977 edition of Barve Kulvruttant. This edition was published by Ved Vidya Prakashan, Pune owned by Mrs. Shailaja Ganesh Barve. The cost of this 500 paged Kulvruttant was only Rs.10.
The next edition of Kulvruttant with 700 pages was published in the year 2007. Additional information, facts and figures were included in this edition. Shri. Dinkar D. Barve and his team took tremendous effort during the publication of this edition.
2. Birthday Greetings : The Central Management committee initially started sending out Birthday Greetings to Barve family members. This activity was taken forward by various Regional Barve Committees who reached out to more Barve family members. Shri. Nandkumar Barve from central committee continues to send out the greetings to Barve family members in cities where regional committee does not exist.
3. Annual Gathering (Sammelan) : Each Regional Committee organized the Annual Barve Gathering turn by turn. This gathering provides a platform to Barve families all over the world tom come together. This is a forum to get introduced, have some good discussions. IN addition to cultural programs, Youth festival as well as Barve Entrepreneurs meeting also happens. As part of the gathering, Laghu Rudra is also performed. The gathering days are almost a festival for all attending Barve families.
4. Cultural Programs : It is not possible for all Barve family members to attend the Annual gathering and the AGM. Hence various regional committees organize functions like Chaitra Gauri, Kojagiri, Makar Sankranti. This is another opportunity for al Barve families to mingle together and get to know more about each other. To encourage these local cultural programs, Central Managing Committee also provides Funds to the regional committees.
5. Senior Citizen Felicitation : Every year Senior citizens above the age of 75 are felicitated by the regional committee members.
6. Student’s Felicitation : Various Successful students from SSC and HSC examinations are being felicitated by the regional committee members.
7. Annapurna Award: All Barve girls get married and move out to other house as daughter-in-law. They gain a place of their own at their in-laws place by their skills, their work. The central committee recognizes and appreciates such Barve Girls with the Annapurna Award.
8. Grihalakshmi Award : Women married into Barve family members, are working hard for the welfare of their families. In addition to these family responsibilities they create a separate identity by working in respective areas of specialities. Hence the Central Committee recognizes and honors the Daughter-in-laws of Barve family members with the Grihalakshmi Award.
9. Model Activist Award : Barve Mandal activist work for years without any expectations to bring the all members of Barve families together. Through this award, the Central committee honors such model activists (Male / Female) for their hard work and time spent on Barve Mandal activities.
It is the prerogative of Central Committee to decide the names of various annual awards.
10. Meritorious Students Assistance : Financial assistance is given to meritorious students for their higher studies. After completing their education, it is the endeavor of these students to return back these funds which can help future students. Request all Barve family members to contribute generously towards this fund.
11. Financing Barve Entrepreneurs : Barve mandal extends financial assistance entrepreneurs to start new business or companies. Request all of you to contribute towards this entrepreneur’s assistance fund. Also share this information with new Barve entrepreneurs.
12. Emergency funds and finance : Barve Mandal has arranged for a small contingency or disaster fund. These funds are to help in a small way Barve families impacted by natural disasters.
